Nowadays, wireless communications are present in the daily activities of modern society and leverage the fast growth of new services, and this trend is likely to increase for the foreseeable future. However, wireless networks have become more complex because of the number of different services that must support. Therefore, research is more important than ever to ensure the successful deployment and implementation of wireless networks and related services. This special issue includes the papers presented at the second Andean workshop on wireless communications and its applications, which show the research carried out in the Andean region to develop this important telecommunications area.
