: In software development organizations, there are core technical processes focused on the construction of the software product, but there are also other business processes, equally relevant, that support this construction, such as organizational decision-making. In this context, the quality of business data has become increasingly relevant; however, there remains a gap regarding data understandability, due to the absence of both its conceptualization and formal mechanisms for measuring its quality. This limits its effective use for organizational data analysis and decision-making processes. This work presents the B-DataCom framework, which proposes metrics for measuring the understandability of business data in software development organizations. A systematic mapping of the literature was conducted to identify viable measurement elements regarding data quality in a business context, which grounded the Framework, also considering an extension of the Measurement Ontology for its integrated conceptualization of the semantics of understandability. B-DataCom defines descriptive aspects of data understandability, a conceptual model representing the theory evaluated in the research, and a set of 11 GQM (Goal-Question-Metric) metrics. After an instantiation exercise of these metrics in the MPS (Process Improvement) process referenced in COMPETISOFT, it is concluded that the proposed metrics can be scaled through future case studies.
